Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be a part of the denomination to attend?
The simple answer is, of course not. We welcome any and all to come be a part of our services. Everyone's story is different. So if you're Catholic, you're welcome here. If you're Methodist, you're welcome here. If you've never stepped foot in a church before, you are welcome here.
Who goes to Lighthouse?
We are a small, but growing community of believers. Most of the congregation lives in La Habra. However, we have some who attend who live as far as Huntington Beach. We are not restricted to one culture, one ethnicity or social group. We believe that Jesus is for all and is to be worshipped by all. The one thing that brings us together is Him! Young, old and everything in between, we want everyone to be part of what God is doing here.
What is the preaching like?
Pastor Zak comes from a well educated background from both in his college/seminary education as well as the home he was raised in. Pastor Zak, by the grace of God, brings relevant, passionate messages. His mission is to bring those away from Christ into a relationship with Him, and ignite a fire in those who already know Jesus as Savior.
Are my children welcome?
Of course your kids are welcome! We have Sunday School taught by fully qualified volunteers for all ages. There is also a nursery along with changing tables both in there and in our restrooms. Are your kids difficult to keep still? That's ok! We don't mind the noise. A church with crying children is better than a quiet church with no children at all.
Do I have to dress up?
Please don't ever keep yourself from services because of what you're wearing. Yes, some wear formal wear. Most are business casual. (Our Pastor secretly hates wearing a tie) For others though, Sunday is their day off and they're heading to the beach or to a theme park after church. So whether you're wearing a blazer or mouse ears, we're just glad you're here. Come as you are!
What goes on during a worship service?
We typically sing a hand full of songs. We do sing from one of our hymn books, but it's not uncommon for us to sing praise and worship songs from time to time. We have a time of giving - where those who feel led to give back to God, can do so. As always and most importantly, we have a time of prayer. You are free to participate in all of the service, or just observe and take it all in. We do not obligate anyone to participate, but want to encourage everyone to experience God by worshipping Him. He is worthy!
What is Sunday School?
Jesus told the early church to, "go and make disciples." This means to educate, encourage, and enlighten believers to a better understanding and closer relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. Sunday School is an age old method we use to carry out this commandment. Each and every week, we offer classes for all ages where the Word of God is brought at an age appropriate level. For believers, it's an opportunity to grow in grace. For those who might be still on the fence, it's here we hope the Spirit works to not just answer questions, but offer the right questions to ask.
